Port Kembla Grain Terminal Upgrade – NSW Ports

CMS were Engaged to perform coating Inspection on the upgrade to the grain terminal in Port Kembla NSW.
The New Quattro ports grain terminal at Port Kembla will increase Port Kembla’s share of the east coast grain market by growing it’s catchment area through improved logistics. The project took three years to complete and included many local contractors in the area.

The development included construction of ten x 10,000 tonne and nine x 2,000 tonne capacity vertical silos, the installation of rail receival hoppers and an overhead covered conveyor to link the existing rail siding to the new silos, and also installation of a 1,500 tonne per hour capacity out loading conveyor to connect to a mobile ship loader. On top of this, an extension was added to berth 103 to handle vessels up to 225 metres in length and some major dredging of approximately 120,000 cubic metres of ground to increase berth depth to 14.5m
